About This Book

As a trans person who grew up visibly queer prior to transition, Faye's life has alienated her from many of society's heterosexual here she unpicks these assumptions with wit and devastating clarity. Having spent much of her late twenties and early thirties trying – and often failing – to find the relationship, career, sex life and social life she equated with happiness and success, Faye began to realise that many of the women around her were also burning out in pursuit of these ideals, where the stakes seemed high and the rewards often disappointing. If we reject this idea of what a young woman's life should be, Faye asks, what comes next?

Reviews

"The effect of this approach on the reader, if it isn't too grandiose to say, is a little like the pull of love itself—a state that feels both private and singular, and epic in its scale ..."

"I find her vulnerability generous ..."

Kitty Drake· The Guardian Read review ↗ Near the Top

"With language as crisp and passionate as that found in her report on systemic transphobia and social justice, The Transgender Issue (2021), Faye's book deliberates over the pleasures and pitfalls of relationships, navigating them in a way that will appeal to all readers, regardless of their sexuality."
